Staff Highlight: Alyson Antinopoulos
We have an amazing team at the Easton Porter Group and across our properties in Charlottesville, Virginia and Charleston, South Carolina. We’re highlighting some of those talented people here on the blog. Our team members are the heart and soul of what we do, and we hope you’ll appreciate them as much as we do!
Meet today’s highlighted team member, Alyson Antinopoulos of Zero George Hotel. Alyson has been working as a Hotel/Events Support Manager since graduating from the College of Charleston last May. While at school, she double-majored in Business Administration and Hospitality, and gained exposure to the hospitality industry through her roles as a front desk agent at Zero George Hotel and as a sales intern at Belmond. Alyson’s ultimate goal in the next few years is to continue working her way up the corporate ladder and take on roles that will allow her to understand all aspects of the Easton Porter Group.
Check out the following Q&A with Alyson to learn more about her, then head over to Zero George to see her in action!
When/Where did your interest in the hospitality industry begin? How long have you been working at Zero George?
My interest in the hospitality industry began when I was a freshman in high school. As a child, I was always very shy and afraid to talk to people. However, when I became the President of my high school and took on many leadership roles, I became more confident and enjoyed interacting with my peers. I chose the College of Charleston for their hospitality program and knew that I would be able to gain hands-on experience at a hotel in Charleston while also attending my classes. I love putting a smile on people’s faces and found that I had an innate passion for creating an experience for those I interacted with. I have been working at Zero George Hotel for 2 years and have recently entered a new role as an Events Manager with our sister property, Cannon Green.
What’s your favorite part about working at Zero George?
I love sharing our charming city and curating memorable experiences for our guests traveling to Charleston. Our team has become very close and it is exciting to create new ideas that we can offer our guests that will put a smile on their face and ultimately have Zero George be their #1 choice for their next stay in Charleston!
What’s your favorite event that you’ve helped plan at Zero George?
My favorite event that we host annually at Zero George is the Ansonborough neighborhood birthday party for Lord Anson. The Ansonborough neighborhood where Zero George Hotel resides was named for George Anson who acquired the land in 1726. We host the event as a friend-builder for our surrounding community and my favorite part of the birthday celebration is watching Lord Anson cut the cake with a sabre!
How do you like to spend your free time in Charleston?
When I am not working, I enjoy trying out new restaurants that have popped up in Charleston that I can recommend to our guests. I also love shopping on King Street, going to the beach, and spending time with my family.
